THESPIANS

Created by Andre Margatini & Nova Bradford

THESPIANS is an indie television show written, produced, and directed by Andre Margatini & Nova Bradford. It is forthcoming.

A fringe theater troupe in San Francisco created the world’s most viral musical about alleged assassin Luigi Mangione. For the briefest of moments they saw a stable career in the arts…before it all came crashing down. Now, a scrappy playwright and her ragtag troupe of misfits fight to keep their provocative fringe theater alive.

Director NOVA BRADFORD just completed a whirlwind journey creating the world’s most talked about new show Luigi: the Musical which resulted in international acclaim. Well, maybe not acclaim, per se, but it resulted in international attention. Well, it made a lot of people on the internet really mad. But still! For a brief moment it felt like the world cared about her art, which she claims is important and provocative. Afterall, isn’t that the value of fringe theater? It says the things that the establishment is too scared to say! But one day it was over, and Nova still hasn’t gotten where she wants to be in her career. And what’s worse, the Luigi project basically destroyed the troupe last year.

So now Nova has to assemble her dream team…well, at least the people who will still talk to her. She's back with a brand-new show. What could go wrong? Everything. Casting debates explode into identity politics. A therapy intervention derails into chaos. But beneath the absurdity is a story about what it takes to make art that matters, and who is going to do it.
